Austin Steer
An artist who has been turning wood for about 30 years on and off, having got hooked when his uncle let him 'have a go' on his lathe as a young lad. Austin bought a lathe with his first paycheque and has been building his skills and toolset ever since.
All of the timber is sourced from his work as a gardener / tree surgeon and the occasional donation from friends.
Austin's work demonstrates a deep respect for the materials, and his pieces are designed to show the wood at its best - working with patterns in the grain.
All the bowls have been finished with Danish oil or shellac which gives them a water-repellent food safe finish. The bowls should be washed in warm water and dried. Keep away from direct heat and re-oil as required
