Quay Tran

Quay is the maker behind Claremont Ceramics. He's a wheel throwing teacher and potter based in Stoke Newington. Inspiration for the colour & texture of the glazes he chooses comes from his past life as a florist. Bright flashes of colour contrasting with darker earthy tones of the clay which is kept as an element of in all pieces, paying homage to the ground, the source of clay itself.

Quay's bowls, cups, jugs & teapots are crafted with great precision and designed for functionality. Their minimal, ergonomic forms are decorated to bring to mind the complex and random beauty of nature.

Smaller decorative pieces, such as the bud vases, are miniature works of art. They demonstrate his impressive wheel throwing skills and are a nod to his past life.
